Property Description

Nestled in the middle of 10 acres of natural beauty in the highly desirable, very private, and quiet Cedar Hollow Crossing neighborhood in rural Georgetown, off SH 29, is a REAL 2,300 sq. ft. two-story log home built by Satterwhite Log Homes out of Longview, TX. The house has an open floor plan that seamlessly flows from the living room to the dining, den, and kitchen areas. It has a soaring all-wood cathedral ceiling with exposed wood beams.

The main bedroom is downstairs off the living room area, with a large full bath featuring a natural river rock shower and a clawfoot bathtub, along with a new, top-of-the-line Special Retro Edition Kohler low-flush-volume toilet installed earlier this year. The bathroom also has a large walk-in cedar wood closet.

Upstairs, there’s a second bedroom with a walk-in cedar closet and, opposite that, a large loft area that can be used as a craft room, office, den, entertainment area, or another bedroom. The two upstairs rooms are connected by a suspended all-wood catwalk. Upstairs, there is wood flooring and handmade Saltillo tile in the full bath. Downstairs, the floors are handmade Saltillo tile. There is NO carpeting in the house.

The spacious kitchen includes an LG refrigerator, LG electric range and oven, LG microwave, and Kenmore dishwasher. In the utility room, there’s an electric water heater with a transferable lifetime warranty. All windows are double-pane for efficiency, and there is a new energy-efficient front door that was recently installed.

For heating and cooling, there’s a Rheem heat pump and AC unit. In the downstairs living room area, there’s a centrally located HearthStone Soapstone Heritage wood-burning stove that is SELF-CLEANING, so there is no need to have a chimney sweep clean it. The glass door was replaced after this past winter season. The stove was purchased from Georgetown Fireplace and Patio if you need more information on this make and model; it currently sells for about $7,000 for this specific model.

The stove is VERY efficient and will heat the entire house in lieu of the electric heat pump in case Texas ever loses power again during an ice storm, or you can simply use the stove for heat instead of the heat pump. There are a few cords of cut and stacked hardwood firewood, plus kindling, in one of the two carports, keeping the firewood dry. This supply should last several years. In the utility room, there is also a built-in dog door.

Outside, there are two covered porches: one stretches across the entire front of the house, and the second is on the east side of the house. There is also a smaller covered porch partially on the back of the house outside the utility room door.

The porch on the east side of the house has custom-made, marine-grade, 20-mil clear vinyl roll-down curtains installed by The Enclosure Guy, based in Gonzales, TX. If you ever decide to close in the front porch, the curtains will seamlessly integrate with the existing curtains on the side porch. If you’re a DIYer, you can order them through the website and install them yourself, or they’ll send a crew out to install them for you.

The curtains will protect plants from freezing during the winter and give you another living area to entertain guests or simply sit and watch the sunrise and the birds with your coffee each morning. On the west side of the house, there’s a large wood deck accessible from the second-story loft area where you can sit and watch the sunset.

The property is very low-maintenance, with native grasses and dozens of different wildflowers covering the entire property. We purposely did little landscaping around the house, trying to seamlessly tie the natural beauty of the property together with the log home.

There are brick walkways in the back of the house for easy access to the pool area and for walking around through the huge oaks. Around the sparkling pool, it’s also lightly landscaped with a natural barrier of Pride of Barbados, Gregory Mist Flowers, Yellow Bells, Mexican Petunias, and Prickly Pears. During the spring, summer, and early fall, the pool area is alive with butterflies and hummingbirds.

The pool is a 16,500-gallon, in-ground gunite pool with a waterfall. It is freeform-shaped, rather than square or rectangular, with locally sourced limestone coping and a concrete deck close to the house for sitting and lounging. There’s a sand filter for easy cleaning and little maintenance. The Pentair variable-speed pump is brand new, and there is a programmable LED light that can be switched for different color themes. By the pool, there’s also an outdoor shower for rinsing off.

The entire 10 acres is FULLY fenced with 5-foot no-climb horse fencing. The interior is cross-fenced into three separate areas or pastures for grazing animals, with several walking paths all around the property.

We recently had a new pipe fence installed at the entrance to the property, which has a solar-powered ranch gate with a smaller gate to the side. The smaller gate makes it easy to enter and exit without having to open the ranch gate.

The property has majestic old-growth Oaks and Elms, with some Cedar, Sumac, Mimosa, Desert Willow, Mountain Laurel, and Hackberry trees as well. Some Cedar was cleared, but we left some for the birds, who use these trees for nesting and protection when roosting.

And speaking of birds, this property is a birder’s paradise! With all the native grasses and wildflowers, along with their seeds throughout the property, there are dozens of species of birds that make it their year-round home. Put out some bird feeders with Black Oil Sunflower seeds, Sunflower Chips, and White Proso Millet, along with some shallow birdbaths, and you’ll attract Goldfinches, House and Purple Finches, Tufted Titmice, Cardinals, Black-Crested Titmice, Chickadees, Bluebirds, Doves, Sparrows, several species of Warblers and Vireos, Kinglets, Blue-Gray Gnatcatchers, Phoebes, Painted and Indigo Buntings, Summer Tanagers, Orioles, Kingbirds, Mockingbirds, Flycatchers, Carolina, House and Canyon Wrens, Red-Tailed Hawks, American and Fish Crows, Chuck-Will’s-Widows, Eastern Screech Owls, Great Horned Owls, and more.

Plus, there are three species of hummingbirds: Black-Chinned, Ruby-Throated, and brilliant orange-gold Rufous Hummers.

Also on the property are dozens of Texas Persimmons, Agarita Bushes, Elbow Bushes, and Prickly Pears that bear fruit and berries for wildlife and birds. The Prickly Pears, Texas Persimmons, and Agaritas are edible by humans as well and can be used for making jellies and jams or simply enjoyed as you walk around the property.

The property is set up for horses, donkeys, goats, and even cows since it is fenced and cross-fenced. There’s a 16’ x 24’ two-story “hay, feed and tack” barn with a loft. We recently had the walls replaced and painted. The barn could also be used as a spacious shop or for storage of a ZT mower or small lawn tractor, motorcycle, bikes, gardening supplies, and more.

Next to the barn is a HUGE metal and Wolmanized wood pole barn with three stalls. Both barns have power run to them. The two barns are in a fenced-in pen area for the animals if you need to contain them during the night or for vet visits.

Next to the horse/donkey/goat pen is a 50’ x 50’ fenced-in yard for chickens or other fowl, with a predator-proof coop featuring a solar-powered automatic opening and closing door for peace of mind.

For parking, there’s one metal carport for one vehicle or boat and another three-vehicle carport for your cars, small RV, boat, tractor, etc. Close to the pole barn and by the pool pump equipment is a smaller shed for storage or a workshop.

There are four above-ground gardens close to the house for growing herbs, vegetables, berries, flowers, and more.

The house is at the very end of Cedar Hollow Road, just before the cul-de-sac, down a private drive about 100 yards off the main road. It’s VERY private, quiet, and peaceful.

Cedar Hollow Crossing is a highly sought-after neighborhood to live in. It was established in the 1980s, with most of the houses being built from the 1980s through the 2000s. Most houses are on large lots or tracts of land, anywhere from 2 acres to some properties of up to 20 acres, with an abundance of old-growth trees throughout the neighborhood. Some houses back up to the San Gabriel River, which runs through the neighborhood.

A BIG bonus is there is NO HOA! And since it’s not in the city limits, no building permits are required when doing work on your property.

Even though it’s a very private neighborhood, it’s close to all major shopping, with THREE HEBs within 10 to 15 minutes, downtown Georgetown with dozens of restaurants, and several medical centers within 10 to 20 minutes of traveling time. High-speed internet is provided by Optimum Fiber.

This place truly is heaven.
