Kat Wainwright grew up on beautiful Catalina Island, California, before making her way to Austin, where she instantly fell in love with the city's vibrant energy and welcoming community. Before starting her real estate career in 2005, Kat owned her own hair salon, where she developed strong client relationships and honed her entrepreneurial spirit. Her experience managing a business and leading a team gave her valuable insights into customer service, listening to client needs, and fostering a collaborative environment—all of which translate seamlessly into her role as a real estate professional.

Kat’s journey into real estate was driven by her family and a deep desire to help others. She combines a genuine passion for supporting people with her hardworking nature, bringing an unmatched level of care to every client interaction. Kat’s background as a business owner gives her a unique perspective, and she always goes the extra mile to ensure her clients feel heard, supported, and confident throughout the process. She is dedicated to helping clients not just find a house but truly feel at home.

Outside of real estate, Kat enjoys life with her husband, Tony, her three daughters, two stepdaughters, and two sweet dogs. She has a green thumb for houseplants, loves staying active through yoga, running, kayaking, and jiu-jitsu, and enjoys spending quality time with her family. Kat also has a newfound passion for baking, experimenting with unique sourdough flavors—her chocolate-infused loaves for Valentine’s Day were a hit!

Why is it important to you to partner with a local brokerage?

Partnering with a local brokerage is important to me because real estate is more than just transactions—it’s about people, communities, and the places we call home. Local brokerages have a deep understanding of the market, but more importantly, they have genuine connections to the neighborhoods they serve. They bring a level of care, insight, and personal investment that makes a real difference for buyers and sellers. I want to work with a team that values relationships above all else and is truly committed to helping people find not just a house, but a home.

What’s your favorite local spot and why?

One of my favorite spots in Austin is actually coming soon—my husband’s coffee shop, Neon Belly! It’s going to be the perfect place to relax, with great coffee, delicious treats, and a beautifully designed space that captures the best of Austin’s local vibe. I’m so excited for it to open because it’s not just about the coffee (though it’s going to be amazing!)—it’s about creating a welcoming, chill environment where people can connect, unwind, and feel at home. I can’t wait for others to experience it and make it their own favorite spot too.

Is there a local cause that is important to you?

Helping Veterans find their perfect homes in Austin is a cause close to my heart—after all they’ve given, they deserve a place to call their own. I also love supporting Service Dogs Inc., a local organization that transforms rescue dogs into service animals for Texan Veterans facing significant challenges. Both causes are about giving back, creating stability, and making a real difference in people’s lives.
